Andrew Gold's Halloween Howls

It's not too late to order this fun record for your young children or grandchildren. The late Andrew Gold produced, performed, engineered and mixed this 1996 children's Halloween album. It's not scary and not meant to be.

Gold also wrote most of these tunes aimed at the kindergarten set. In addition to Gold's originals, there are covers of "The Monster Mash" (with Linda Ronstadt and Stephen Bishop), "The Addams Family" and "Ghostbusters". Also participating but not specifically credited are: Karla Bonoff, and Nicolette Larson ("to name a few" accordiing to the annotation.)

This lighthearted, fun for the little kids album had its vinyl debut last year on Craft Records. There's time to get it for those young ones. They'll enjoy and you might too, though mostly watching the kids bounce along.

The sound? 1990's crunchy synth digital style. But it's clean and works here as the sound is as cartoonish as the music and somehow Gold's mix produces ridiculous amounts of three- dimensionality and stage depth. "12x12" cover art by the talented illustrator Jess Rotter is a nice extra.
