Rhino High Fidelity Drops Double Jazz Titles for Jazz Appreciation Month

Miles' "Tutu" and Coltrane's Atlantic Final, "Olé"

The ORG Ole is mono and the Rhino is stereo, BTW.

Oh thanks, wasn’t aware, good reason for a Rhino alternative (except maybe if it’s pingpong stereo)

After my copy of Coltrane's Sound arrived from Rhino with horrendous and not so non-typical Optimal non-fill pressing defects, and the pain of dealing with Rhino customer support for a return at the time, I swore off dealing with their direct sales model again. However, I caved on Ornette's Change of The Century and that ended up great, so I have ordered Ole. Other than a crusty old copy of Ole that doesn't sound great I have the ORG 45 mono (that thinks it's stereo) so I hope this one is a winner because I really love the music on this.

The Ole Coltrane issue is an interesting one. This (Rhino) version is cut by the ubiquitous Kevin Gray: Upcoming is an Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 version, which, I’m guessing will NOT be cut by KG; more likely Ryan K. Smith or, if I had my say, Bernie. So I, for one will not be purchasing the Rhino.

The main reason for buying such a well mastered 33 RPM is to be able to listen to the title track in one piece.

Agree. I'd much rather have the Kevin Gray mastered 33. And it costs less.

Looking forward to the Tutu reissue. I have an older pressing that just sounds okay.
